Switching schools is daunting. There are so many unknowns. Not least of all is the academic fit. Will making this switch prove worth the tremendous effort it takes to change course after the school year has begun? Will it be a fit socially? Athletically? Extracurricularly? Yes, we might possibly be making up words, but we are not making up our commitment to supporting new students.
Switching schools under current circumstances might be even more unusual and daunting. Distance learning is not one size fits all. We agree. That is why the online experience is different at Academy of Tucson.
At Academy of Tucson we are a small public charter school offering personal relationships with teachers, staff and classmates. For all ages! Our 14:1 student to teacher ratio enables stellar differentiated learning options in a supportive academic environment - whether online or in person.
Our
small campuses and small classes mean our staff knows every student's name and our teachers understand the student as an individual. Our students are safe with us -- to explore, to try new things, to access their growth mindsets and to grow. We have custom tools to make online learning more manageable - an AOT only digital learning website full of tips and our very own YouTube channel with video how to’s and supports.

Change at any age can be tough. For high schoolers, it can be extra challenging. There are
so many worthwhile reasons to make the jump. Earning
college credit while in high school is an amazing one. We create that opportunity for plenty of our AOTHS students.
Our
teachers truly know our students and vice versa. These relationships are so impactful many of our
alumni come back to visit and check in. Some even joined our team —
teaching the next generation of AOT
active student lifestudents.
Once we can return to in-person extracurricular activities you can participate in multiple sports. Plus be a student leader, in band and/or in chorus. Act in the school plays. Does your student love school events and field trips? Students at Academy of Tucson can do it all. It’s an active student life.
If you’re thinking about
making a switch in schools now is a very good time. In fact, there’s never a bad time! We accept transfer students throughout the year. We are underway in our 2020-21 school year with distance learning already — but our
small schools and caring faculty will welcome you/your student(s) into the fold with ease.
