Janet Dougherty, Middle School Teacher
Spearheading founder of the Butterfly Garden on our Middle School campus, Ms. Janet Dougherty is a shining example of our committed faculty at Academy of Tucson.
This former Air Force officer has loved her career paths. In her own words,
“I consider myself extremely fortunate that I have had two very rewarding careers: Air Force officer and Middle School teacher. This is my eighth year at AOTMS and I still wake each day anxious to get to school to see what experiences and adventures await! I cannot say enough about the incredibly dedicated and caring staff/faculty at the middle school, including tremendously supportive parents. It is also a great joy to witness the fifth graders mature into such impressive young men and women through the eighth grade as they prepare for high school.”
Before joining Academy of Tucson Middle School, Ms. Dougherty taught ROTC at the University of Arizona and NAU. In previous roles, Ms. Dougherty has been both Teacher and Principal and worked with at-risk youth, and she has taught in both Kenya and China.
This is the vibrant butterfly garden behind our Middle School students.
