Mrs. Cmiel, AOTMS Music Director, Brings Music to our Ears

Catherine Cmiel is a dedicated music instructor to our middle school students. Teaching sixth grade music, 7-8 grade music, chorus and band, theater, and even how to play recorders, Mrs. Cmiel influences many!

She finds joy working with our middle schoolers and always finds exciting places for performances like zoo light shows, botanical gardens, retirement homes, Honor Flight fundraisers, family fun nights, and school musicals.

Graduating from Northern Illinois University, Mrs. Cmiel earned her BA in Instrumental Music Education. Mrs. Cmiel and her husband and daughters moved to Tucson in 1996 and she is now a proud grandmother!

During the school year, Mrs Cmiel guides our middle school students in theatrical performances such as Peter Pan and Beauty and the Beast and in their own short play writing techniques and performances. She also teaches a puppet show class where students learn to write monologues, develop scripts and their own unique puppet show story, then build the sets and ultimately perform their puppet show for family and friends.

We are grateful to Mrs. Cmiel for the numerous ways she introduces and encourages music in the lives of our AOTMS students. Thank you, Mrs. Cmiel!
