Academy of Tucson believes hands-on learning and exposure to the community surrounding our school is vital for all of our students. From elementary school through high school, our AOT students learn about the real world around them, and experience its meaning and impact for themselves.
We take our Academy of Tucson Elementary School students to Tucson Botanical Garden and Sabino Canyon. Our first graders study the five food groups by visiting a local grocery store. Our second graders get hands on with chickens, ducks and more at Tucson Village Farm. And our fourth graders spend a few nights in the Grand Canyon!
Our Academy of Tucson Middle School students visit many Tucson area landmarks like our zoo and our many national parks. Our middle schoolers head to Phoenix to visit the aquarium and butterfly garden. For Spanish immersion, our middle schoolers might visit local restaurants and test out their proficiency.
Academy of Tucson High School students might try their hand at indoor skydiving courtesy of their Physics class, or join real world expeditions with our Academy Adventurers Travel Club. Our students have researched and conducted experiments in Honduras, the Galapagos Islands, and Ecuador. Next stop for our AOTHS travel enthusiasts, a humanitarian trip to Europe, as soon as we are safely able to go. Our highschoolers also visit Arizona colleges for tours and our Junior Civitan members attend regional conferences.
