AOT. AOT. How Does (your) College Credit Go?

The majority of our Academy of Tucson High School students graduate with college credit. In fact - they’re earning at least 6.0 seamlessly-transferable college credits! How? By partaking in our AP classes and dual enrollment with local colleges. There are over 100 online courses from which to choose! And some are paid for by AOT!

Our students take WRT101 and 102 as seniors through Pima Community College. The courses will be virtual this year, overseen by our senior English teacher, Mark Hinrichs. He holds a Masters in English and has taught at the college level.

Academy of Tucson pays for WRT 101 and 102 (6.0 units of FREE college credit). Our students have the option to pay for other Pima classes, as well as the Grand Canyon University (GCU) online catalog.

For our Advanced Placement (AP)  classes — some are in-person and some are only offered online. Every AOTHS student that’s in good standing in the course takes the AP exam in the spring or FREE! Courtesy of AOT.

Not all of our students follow the college track. Some attend JTED, a polytechnic school in Pima County. These valuable  -- and as we have learned in 2020 -- essential! -- career programs range from healthcare to public safety to technology and beyond. Our students earn industry certifications and licenses, preparing them immediately for timely roles in the job market.

We care so much about creating an individualized education and supporting life beyond high school — including college and career — that we have Ms. Figeuroa full time on our staff. Ms. Figueroa helps with everything from financial aid and scholarships, to study tips and organization best practices. Taking the PSAT, SAT, AP Testing or ASVAB? She can help!

Ms. Figueroa is a dynamo! Not only does she advise our Academy of Tucson students on college prep and career needs, Ms. Figueroa also chaperones ‘The Academy Adventurers'. And in this time of distance learning and uncertain next steps for our Academy of Tucson high schoolers, she is showing how much advice she has to give!

Our certified teachers create encouraging, caring, personalized educations in a safe and supportive learning environment. Many of our teachers enroll their own children and grandchildren in AOT schools because of our close-knit, positive culture.
